Rent a business number.
Decide who answers it.
Rent a real business number inside Xuda, then set in one screen who or what picks it up: your browser, your team, a mobile, voicemail, or an AI that already knows the caller's name. Two-way SMS, call transcripts and metered usage sit on the same account.

An isolated carrier subaccount per customer
Call audio stored unless you switch recording on
Usage re-settled against the carrier's final price
The number is the easy part. Answering it is the product.
A business number on its own just rings somewhere. Xuda puts the number, the people it can reach, the hours you keep, the messages it sends and what all of it costs on one account, next to the contacts and profiles you already have. Every inbound call resolves to a single decision, and you can see that decision before a caller ever hears it.
Phone is in controlled early access. Numbers are not on general sale yet, and each country is switched on deliberately after review.
Four steps, and one of them is a review.
Nothing is charged and no carrier is touched until the country, the number type and your business identity have all cleared. You see the monthly total and the usage rates on the same screen you buy from.
- 01
Switch phone on for the account
Pick a tier on the phone plan ladder. One plan covers every number the account will ever hold, and its fee is charged once. A paid Xuda membership is the only prerequisite.
- 02
Clear the country once
Accept the eight communications policies, then submit your business identity on a form built from that country's own rules. A person reviews it. Nothing here is approved automatically.
- 03
Pick the number
Search live inventory, then read the capability badges, the monthly total and the per-minute and per-segment rates on the same screen you buy from. The quote is held for five minutes so the price cannot move under you.
- 04
Decide how it answers
One dialog sets the profile, who rings, the ring timeout, business hours, mobile forwarding, voicemail and recording. The Numbers table then reads back what a caller will actually get.
One number. Every way of answering it.
Browser, team, mobile, voicemail, SMS. The rules live on the number, so two lines on the same account can behave completely differently.
Rent a real business number
Country and number type come from a catalog Xuda controls, so you only ever see inventory that is actually sellable to you. Capability badges tell you what the number can carry before you commit.
One screen decides who answers
Business hours per weekday, who rings, the ring timeout from 5 to 120 seconds, mobile forwarding, voicemail with its own greeting, and call recording. It applies to that number only.
Answer in the browser
Turn browser calling on and the microphone is asked for once. Pick your microphone, the device the call plays on, and the device the ringtone plays on, or silence the ring entirely.
Dial out, safely
The dialer never hands a destination to the carrier. The server authorizes each outbound call as a one-time intent that expires in sixty seconds, so a browser cannot dial an arbitrary number on your caller ID.
Two-way SMS
Conversations sit next to the line that owns them, with unread counts and a segment counter that implements the real encoding rules. Every send carries an idempotency key, so a double click cannot bill twice.
Opt-out you do not have to police
An inbound STOP flips the conversation to opted out, in English or Hebrew. The composer locks and every later send is refused by the server, whatever the browser tries to do.
Call history per line
Pick the line in the scope picker and read direction, contact, number, time, duration and result, newest first. No media links and no carrier identifiers ever reach the browser.
Share a line, hand over a call
Share a profile with another Xuda user and they become a ring target and a transfer target. Transfer a live call to them, or take a call back from the AI onto your own browser.
Transcripts, text only
Calls are transcribed with the caller and the answering side on separate tracks, and only the text is stored. Audio exists only if you switch recording on, and turning it on is written to the log with who did it.
It tells you what it cannot undo.
Renting a number is a one-way door in places, so the screen says so out loud before you commit. Capabilities are fixed at purchase. Texting cannot be bolted on later. Changing your mind means releasing the number and buying a different one, and the release is permanent.
- Countries and number types come from a server-controlled catalog, not raw carrier inventory. A type your country cannot sell is greyed out with the reason.
- The price is quoted live, snapshotted, and held for five minutes, so the figure you accept is the figure you are charged.
- If the carrier acquisition fails after your card is charged, the subscription is cancelled and refunded and the number is handed back.
Excludes taxes and carrier fees, and usage is billed on top. Billing starts immediately and renews monthly; releasing the number stops the renewal and the current month is not prorated.
Texting that shows the bill before you send.
An SMS is not one unit. A single emoji or Hebrew character switches the whole message to a different encoding and can triple what it costs. The composer counts real segments as you type, and the server refuses anything the rules say it should refuse.
- The counter uses the real rules: 160 characters a segment, 153 once a message is concatenated, 70 for the wide encoding and 67 concatenated.
- A send over ten segments is refused outright, so a pasted wall of text cannot quietly become an expensive one.
- Threads are derived from the line and the contact rather than allocated, so an inbound message and your reply always land in the same conversation.
- Every send carries an idempotency key the server claims, so a retry returns the original message instead of sending a second one.
An estimate is never shown as a bill.
Every billable event lands in an append-only ledger keyed by the carrier's own event id, so a retried webhook cannot charge you twice. The row starts as an estimate and is settled later against the price the carrier finally publishes. The two states are counted separately, and the difference is visible rather than smoothed over.
| Kind | Unit | Quantity | State |
|---|---|---|---|
| voice_inbound | minute | 18 | final |
| voice_outbound | minute | 7 | final |
| sms_inbound | segment | 24 | final |
| sms_outbound | segment | 31 | estimated |
| transcription | minute | 12 | estimated |
Your own carrier subaccount
Every customer gets exactly one, created once and verified against the live carrier API as a genuine child of the Xuda account before Xuda will record it. Your numbers, calls and messages are not pooled with anyone else's.
Keyed to the carrier's event id
The ledger is append-only and keyed by the provider's own event id, so a retried webhook lands back on the same row. Rows already settled are skipped, and a row the carrier can no longer confirm is parked instead of billed.
Audio only if you ask for it
Transcription stores text. Recording is a separate switch, callers are told the call may be recorded, and switching it on is written to the log with the line and the person who did it.
Four tiers. Charged once, not per number.
The phone plan sits on the account, not on the line, so a second number adds its own rental and nothing else. Tiers are cumulative: each one carries everything below it. Pricing is quoted in the dashboard, because the number's own rental depends on the country and the type you pick.

The plan fee is charged once for the account and rides the oldest live number, so a second number only adds its own rental. That rental is quoted live for the country and type you choose, and calls and messages are metered on top. Phone is in controlled early access, so the tier prices are settled in Phone Manager rather than quoted here, and AI answering is not a switch on any of these tiers: it comes from Auto Response. A downgrade takes effect on the next call, not the next save, and your settings stay on the line untouched so an upgrade restores them exactly as they were.
A business line, without a second vendor.
The realistic options are a standalone business phone service, or building on a carrier API yourself. Here is where each one leaves you.

The awkward questions, answered first.
Rent the number. Decide who answers.
Pick a plan for the account, clear the country's verification once, then set hours, ring targets, forwarding and voicemail on each line. Answer from the browser, text back, and see every billable event on a ledger you can audit.
